Katoomba: Family Case Worker Maternity Leave Cover

Thrive Services is seeking a compassionate and experienced Family Case Worker to join our team at our Katoomba office. This is a maternity leave cover position – until June 2027.

As a CAFS Family Case Worker, you will play a meaningful role in supporting families with children under 18 across the Blue Mountains LGA to build safer, stronger, and more connected lives. Working collaboratively with families, you will provide tailored, strengths-based case management, supporting the development and implementation of individualised case plans that enhance family functioning, strengthen relationships, and build capacity.

This dynamic role includes facilitating parenting programs and group work, connecting families with community supports, and engaging locally to promote access and belonging. Using a client-centred, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed approach, you will create a safe, supportive space where families feel empowered to thrive.

About the role

Hours: Part-Time | 21hours per week
Award: SCHADS 2010 Level 4 (leave entitlements & option to salary package)
Location: Katoomba NSW

About you

To be successful in your application, you will need:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Community Services (or a related field), along with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in case management.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering holistic, strengths-based case management, including working collaboratively with clients to develop tailored plans and achieve meaningful outcomes.
  • Experience planning and facilitating evidence-based programs, group work, and community-based activities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
  • A current NSW Driver Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • A National Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
  • A current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
